WhoResearch is seen as a systematic search to arrive at new conclusions. The focus is on the methodology. It is certain. However, the outcomes from research can vary: it can be data, it can be information, or it can be insight. Research covers all of it. Discovery, on the other hand is the revelation of the new. The focus is on the revelation. It uncovers and is interested only in insight. At Erehwon, we are not interested in the usual data or information that is available in the world at large. We want differentiating insights. In this sense, Discovery is a subset of Research. In addition, Research usually implies (doesn't necessarily mean, but does imply) secondary/ or second hand. Whereas at Erehwon, it is the creation of cutting edge insight and know how to direct the future that excites us. It is immersion first hand, where we go out to where most people haven't and get to the heart, the essence of the matter, while every one else just speculates or has fuzzy conclusions. Hence, we believe Discovery aptly positions the work that we do. |
